New Tower Computer Questionnaire

To help me determine the optimum compromise between cost and performance of each main component, please complete this by giving the answer that closest matches your likely future use.  I will then produce a (no obligation) first draft specification proposal and invite your comments with a view to revising it later.  All options in each category are assumed to include earlier options in that category.  Qualifications and comments may be added at the end.  The two most important questions are in red.

 

Central processor unit

I am value conscious and my budget is important.  I only use e-mail and browse Web sites.

I have several icons in the system tray running background tasks and use office programs (Word, Excel)

I edit still photos, play simple games or run media rich software. I would like to be able to run tomorrow's programs.

I edit audio or small video files

I play online or extreme games and need all the power I can get

 

Volatile memory (RAM)

I only use e-mail and basic office programs one at a time
