Mouse not waking after hibernation, standby or sleep

Permalink 12:44:13 pm by Eugene Gardner, Categories: Technical Tips

With Vista there is more encouragement to put the computer to sleep rather than shut down and reboot. Sometimes though, USB devices such as mice do not wake up from the sleep; necessitating a restart.

This is a power management issue that can be resolved by running Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) then clicking the plus sign next to Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right click the instances of USB Root Hub one by one then select properties, power management tab and deselect Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power.
