Microsoft Windows support end dates

Permalink 08:24:45 pm by Eugene Gardner, Categories: Security, General

The product life cycle of Windows versions terminates as follows. If you are not on the latest service pack or run an older version than those listed below support has already ended.

XP (SP3) 8th April 2014
Vista (SP2) 11th April 2017
7 (SP1) 14th January 2020
8 10th January 2023

The main significance of end of support is that no patches will be released to block security holes that are exposed.

For completeness, although probably of little interest to most readers, preloaded OEM editions of 7 will be possible until 25th October 2014 and boxed (retail) editions to at least 25th October 2013.
